Holmes Mill in Clitheroe is one of those wedding venues that brings a whole new meaning to the term "industrial chic." As a wedding videographer, I find myself always excited to shoot here because it's not your typical venue—it's got character and a vibe that's as cool as it is unique.
Situated in the heart of Lancashire, Holmes Mill is essentially a converted textile mill, and boy, does it wear its history on its sleeve. The rustic brickwork, original machinery elements, and the exposed beams create an atmosphere that's both rugged and romantic. It's a feast for the eyes and the camera lens—every angle offers something intriguing and visually appealing.
Inside, the Function Room, where most receptions take place, is a dream for capturing those lively moments of celebration. With its spacious layout and contemporary lighting set against industrial decor, it provides a fantastic contrast that really pops on video. The space is large enough to handle a big party but still feels intimate thanks to the warm lighting and wooden accents.
The old Engine Room, now the Bowland Beer Hall, is another highlight. It’s not every day you get to film a wedding with such a quirky backdrop. Imagine capturing the wedding party enjoying craft beers under the glow of fairy lights, surrounded by vintage brewing equipment—it’s a setting that guarantees some fun and memorable moments.
Then there's the food at Holmes Mill, which is a big deal here. The venue prides itself on offering a culinary experience that's a notch above, and from a videographer's perspective, those beautifully presented dishes make for some great close-up shots that add a gourmet touch to the wedding film.
