The date of their wedding, 1st August, was extra special for the couple—it had a lot of meaning for them, which made the day even more magical. As a Shottle Hall wedding videographer, it was such a privilege to capture every heartfelt moment of their beautiful day.
The morning started off at a lovely AirBnB—a cosy farmhouse right under the airport’s flight path. Unfortunately, that meant no drone shots, but honestly, the place had such a great vibe that it didn’t matter. The bride was surrounded by her closest family and friends, and everything was so calm and happy. There was this warm, easygoing energy, and everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Those early hours felt intimate and really special. Rachel Lewen, the talented make-up artist, worked her magic to make sure the bride and her friends looked absolutely stunning—her attention to detail and calm presence made everything run smoothly. Nicola Hodgkinson was there for hair, and she did an incredible job making sure everyone felt their best.
After a short drive, it was time for the ceremony at All Saints Church in Ilkeston. The church was such a charming little spot, full of character. Father Julius Anozie led the service, and he was incredible—so warm, funny, and genuinely welcoming. His relaxed and light-hearted approach made the ceremony feel both touching and really personal. It was a classic religious ceremony, with beautiful readings and heartfelt vows. One of my favourite things about filming at All Saints was the freedom to move around, which let me get those close-up shots that really captured all the emotion of the day.\
After the ceremony, the couple jumped into a gorgeous classic car from I Do Wedding Cars and headed over to Shottle Hall for the reception. As a Shottle Hall wedding videographer, it’s always such a delight to film at this beautiful venue, and this day was no exception. With its sweeping views of the Derbyshire countryside, Shottle Hall looked absolutely stunning in the golden summer sunshine. When we arrived, I finally got the drone up and running, capturing some amazing shots of the hall and the surrounding countryside. It was the perfect day—blue skies, a gentle breeze, and that kind of warmth that just makes everyone feel relaxed and happy.
It was amazing to see how the vendors helped bring the day together—Enchanted Rose, led by Lisa, created the most beautiful floral arrangements, adding an enchanting touch to every corner of the venue. The decor by Inspired Hire made everything feel elegant yet cosy, and the balloons from Balloons & Beyond UK added a touch of whimsy that fit perfectly with the day’s relaxed vibe. During the afternoon, guests mingled on the lawn, enjoying drinks and catching up. The lawn games were a lot of fun, with everyone getting involved. The bride was even playing limbo, which brought so many laughs.
The cake, made by Sarah from Julia Florence, was absolutely stunning—not only did it look gorgeous, but it tasted amazing too. The speeches later on were so heartfelt and full of laughter—there were touching moments, loving words, and some funny stories that had everyone smiling. As the sun went down, the atmosphere remained relaxed, with everyone enjoying the beautiful evening together. Louise from Jackstar Weddings made sure the music kept everyone in good spirits, and their photo booth was a big hit, capturing fun moments throughout the night. Will Duffy from You and Yours Photography was there too, and it was great working alongside him—we were able to capture the day from different perspectives, which always makes for a richer story.
Looch, the mind reader, also provided some fantastic entertainment—his tricks had everyone completely amazed and added a really unique element to the day. Shottle Hall was the perfect setting for such an amazing day, and I felt so lucky to be there capturing it all. As a Shottle Hall wedding videographer, my goal was to capture everything—from the relaxed moments of the morning to the emotional ceremony and joy-filled reception. Every part of the day showed the love and adventure these two share. Their wedding wasn’t just about the big celebration—it was about all the people who came together to make it special, each moment more memorable than the last.
If you’re considering Shottle Hall for your wedding, I can’t recommend it enough—it’s got that perfect mix of grandeur and intimacy.
